alien-vs-predator-requiem-1

A bad ass space alien whose desire is to hunt and skin humans or a bad ass space alien whose desire is to breed and take over which ever planet they may inhabit at the moment; both seem like a good choice. If you can’t make up your mind, you can always watch a movie that includes both.

A satellite detects a mysterious heat bloom beneath Bouvetøya, an island about one thousand miles north of Antarctica. A team of scientists is assembled to investigate the heat source.

As a Predator ship reaches Earth’s orbit, it blasts a shaft through the ice towards the source of the heat bloom. When the humans arrive at the site above the heat source they find the shaft and descend beneath the ice. They discover a mysterious pyramid and begin to explore it, finding evidence of a civilization predating written history and what appears to be a sacrificial chamber filled with human skeletons with ruptured rib cages.

Meanwhile, three Predators land and kill the humans on the surface, making their way down to the pyramid and arriving just as the remaining team unwittingly powers up the structure. An Alien queen awakens from cryogenic stasis and begins to produce eggs, from which facehuggers hatch and attach to several humans trapped in the sacrificial chamber. Chestbursters emerge from the humans and quickly grow into adult Aliens.

It is found out that every 100 years the Predators would visit Earth to take part in a rite of passage in which several humans would sacrifice themselves as hosts for the Aliens, creating the “ultimate prey” for the Predators to hunt. If overwhelmed, the Predators would activate their self-destruct weapons to eliminate the Aliens and themselves. The explorers deduce that this is why the current Predators are at the pyramid, and that the heat bloom was to attract humans for the purpose of making new Aliens to hunt.

The remaining humans decide that the Predators must be allowed to succeed in their hunt so the Aliens do not reach the surface. Alexa and the Predator reach the surface, where they battle the escaped Alien queen.

A Predator ship uncloaks and several Predators appear. They collect their fallen comrade and retreat into space.

I’ve left out a lot because I didn’t want to ruin anything in case you haven’t seen it. If you haven’t, go out and rent it right now, you should see it for yourself. It’s an action packed SCI-FI fest giving every SCI-FI junky what they want; some space aliens and lots of cool effects. While you’re at it, you could dress up as your favourite one.

Fred Kreuger was a child murderer, and when a rookie cop became suspicious of Fred‘s activities he broke into the Krueger house and utterly trashed the place looking for him, stumbling across Freddy’s hidden trophy room where hefreddy-krueger kept scrapbooks containing newspaper clippings and such; afterward the cop rushed to the power plant where Fred worked, and brought him in. He was later released because of this cops mistakes and lack of following proceedure. As a result, the parents of Springwood tracked Fred down and burned him alive for revenge.

Fred “Freddy” came back to kill off the rest of the Springwood children in their dreams he is a disfigured dream stalker who uses a glove armed with razors to kill children and teenagers in their dreams, which ultimately results in their death in the real world. However, whenever he is dragged into the real world, he has normal human strength and vulnerability.

Being a long time fan of the Nightmare franchise I’m quite excited to see the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, it’s said to have gotten rid of Freddy‘s perverted and “funny” side making the film much more terrifying. Here is the official trailor of the remake.

One, two, Freddy’s coming for you…

Three, four, better lock your door…

Five, six, grab your crucifix…

Seven, eight, gonna stay up late…

Nine, ten, never sleep again!

Frankenstein’s monster (or Frankenstein’s creature) is a character that first appeared in Mary Shelley’s novel, Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus. In the novel, the creature has no name—a symbol of his parentlessness and karlofffrankensteinlack of human sense of self and identity. He does call himself, when speaking to his creator, Victor Frankenstein, the “Adam of your labours”. He is also variously referred to as a “creature,” “fiend,” “the dæmon,” “wretch,” “devil,” “thing,” “being,” and “ogre” in the novel.

The monster’s namelessness became part of the stage tradition as Mary Shelley’s story was adapted into serious and comic plays in London, Paris, and France during the decades after the novel’s first appearance. Mary Shelley herself attended a performance of Presumption, the first successful stage adaptation of her novel. “The play bill amused me extremely, for in the list of dramatic personae came, _______ by Mr T. Cooke,” she wrote her friend Leigh Hunt. “This nameless mode of naming the unnameable is rather good.”

The name of the creator, Frankenstein, soon came to be used to name the creation. That happened within the first decade after the novel was published, but it became cast in concrete after the story was popularized in the famous 1930s Universal film series starring Boris Karloff. The film was based largely on a play by Peggy Webling, performed in London in 1927. Webling’s Frankenstein actually does give his creature his name. The Universal film reverted to the empty cypher, however: the film’s credits list the character Karloff plays as a question mark. Nevertheless, the creature soon enough became best known in the popular imagination as “Frankenstein”.

For this Halloween, breathe life into your very own Frankenstein costume and wreak havok on those around you. This Frankenstein mask is a replica from the original Frankenstein’s Monster film from 1930. It was the begining of a great villain. Or you could choose a different version of the beloved Frankenstein, either way, you’ll be sure to have a blast in this great costume.
