Good Queens are a dime a dozen. This year, outdo the usual royal variations that make appearances at Halloween parties worldwide.

Who says being a queen means you cannot be a little devious? Let this year’s holiday outfit tell a different tale and prove that even the most beautiful queen costume can be dark and naughty. Relish the power of demanding common peasants to accommodate your every whim and desire, if only for a single evening. The entire garment features a theme that is all brooding black. The long costume gown flows to the floor with a velvety accent in the front and smoky grey silk fabric draped over each hip. The bodice offers a low bust line to almost place this one in with the other sexy Halloween costumes. The sleeves are long and flowing, with excess fabric that drapes over the elbow and bunches at the shoulders to create an appearance of nobility. A choker clings to the neck and wraps around with a short collar, rising up towards the silver crown. No wicked queen would go for a bright golden crown. Fred Kreuger was a child murderer, and when a rookie cop became suspicious of Fred’s activities he broke into the Krueger house and utterly trashed the place looking for him, stumbling across Freddy’s hidden trophy room where he kept scrapbooks containing newspaper clippings and such; afterward the cop rushed to the power plant where Fred worked, and brought him in. He was later released because of this cops mistakes and lack of following proceedure. As a result, the parents of Springwood tracked Fred down and burned him alive for revenge.

Fred “Freddy” came back to kill off the rest of the Springwood children in their dreams he is a disfigured dream stalker who uses a glove armed with razors to kill children and teenagers in their dreams, which ultimately results in their death in the real world. However, whenever he is dragged into the real world, he has normal human strength and vulnerability.

Being a long time fan of the Nightmare franchise I’m quite excited to see the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, it’s said to have gotten rid of Freddy’s perverted and “funny” side making the film much more terrifying. Here is the official trailor of the remake.

Sandy and Danny, their names alone mean nothing, together they represent the film we all know and love that brought us ‘Summer Nights’ and ‘Greased Lightnin’. Grease is an infamous musical-play turned film, adapted and produced by Allan Carr, chartering the summertastic rock ‘n’ roll of the 1950s, centring on the highs and lows of a group of teenagers at high-school, Rydell High.

The film begins with two people having a summer romance, Sandy (Newton-John) an uptight, naïve, nerdy Australian girl and Danny (Travolta), a ‘jack-the-lad’ ‘T’ bird. After the opening credits which are amusing cartoons of the main characters we see the two well known groups of teenagers, the Pink Ladies and the ‘T’ Birds going back to school after summer vacation. The rest of the film centres mostly on the relationship of Sandy and Danny, the problems they face, and the ups and downs of their high school chums. The main characters and the unusual pairing of Sandy and Danny makes for comfortable viewing.

My favourite part of the film is the music, this film has such a brilliant soundtrack. If you have the chance to watch the film on DVD you get the added bonus of a songbook. However with a musical film you do find some parts unrealistic when they sing, why would a group of lads sing Summer Nights for example? Yet that aside the songs, mostly corny love songs are addictive and easy to pick up unfortunately will be in your head all day. Grease may not have had a lavish budget like films made today, but this 1978 film directed by Randal Kleiser still manages to have great audience appeal. Its’ scenes and costumes are basic and probably didn’t break the bank to produce but this all adds to the realism of the film.

I like the film and could watch it over and over again. This uplifting, audience grabbing film may be slightly cheesy but there is just so much to love about it, especially the soundtrack and dance moves! This gives it longevity making it such a great film that could be the best musical ever made.
