Everyone loves getting and giving Halloween candy, the tiny bite sized pieces are perfect for that sugar craving when you have it. At Halloween time the stores are stacked with bags of all sorts of yummy things. Dressing up as one of those yummy candies is also a good idea, perhaps a tootsie roll costume? Or maybe a smarties costume? along with the always famous candy corn. It may just get you or your kids some extra candy at Halloween.

Wouldn’t it be cool to see a sexy witch on her broom on Halloween ? We all remember Samantha and her cousin Serena on Bewitched, Elizabeth Montgomery fit the parts perfectly, and Sabrina the cartoon character was not your typical hag with warts and straggly hair. Nicole Kidman in Practical Magic was a gorgeous witch. Perhaps the woman in your life would cast a spell over you if she wore a sexy witch costume . No sexy witch is complete with a broom for the costume . You will never look at witches the same way again.

Halloween events in the past very often took place at a church or community center, bonfires, corn mazes , bobbing for apples are all old fashioned types of activities people took part in, seeming to be more popular in the early 2oth century than today. Today these traditions are somewhat kept up but there is also lots more trick or treating and amusement parks get in on the fun now with scary rides and roller coasters and haunted houses for everyone to enjoy. Kids had simple ghost or goblin costumes, or little girls and their cute little witch costumes , all thrown together at the last minute. There is something cozy and quaint about the Halloweens past, and the super cool decorations are making a comeback on websites during this time of year, we should all embrace a vintage style Halloween!

Collecting Halloween

Some people enjoy collecting thing, trinkets, dolls, ornaments and some people like collecting Christmas stuff, or from other holidays like Halloween. There is always lots of decorations for the household like candle holders and candy dishes so its really not difficult to get a good collection going really fast. There’s cute little Halloween trinkets , or creepy decor that is functional as well. Some people spend years collecting and many items end up being worth some money in the end . Its amazing what you can find and where if your determined enough to look around at Halloween time.

Ghost trains

Everyone has a ghost train ride in their city at Halloween and they can be so much fun if well done. Trains travel through the woods or some other creepy dark place and people dressed in scary costumes jump out at you , and sinister jack 0 lanterns are around every corner. The train conductor is always really creepy looking himself , wearing an appropriately evil costume and mask . Sounds, light effects, and frightening characters make up a great train ride. Every city has one almost ,so its a great Halloween activity for any age.

Haunted Hotels

Have you ever stayed in a haunted hotel ? Like a old stone mansion or castle on the misty moors , where you might see a woman dressed in a banshee costume roaming about the grounds, perhaps a actor to add more drama to your stay or maybe not …. or the old abandoned motel out in the desert , with the old saloon and possibly ghosts of cowboys past. Or a southern plantation with someone in a soldiers uniform lurking in the halls at night, perhaps from the civil war.

Tim Burtons movies and visions

Tim Burton’s beautiful unique artistry and style is unlike any other artist or film-maker today, its truly different. But its not for everyone I guess, some people would find it morbid or dreary, or creepy, but that is the beauty of it . The gangly long limbed characters are easily recognized now , half dead or dead, up from the grave or going back into it, or whatever world they came from. The dark scenery and backgrounds of Nightmare before Christmas and Corpse Bride really sets the Halloween mood, they are perfect movies for fall and Halloween. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Sally costume or a corpse bride costume stumbling around this Halloween.

The evil of the ” Thriller ”

Thriller being such a famous video, why not do a ghoul style Michael Jackson costume for Halloween just like he did in the video using makeup and his great red jacket and a wig? The video is still so amazing and legendary and impressive. The make up and the costumes and the sets. I still get creeped out watching it alone to this day. Those creepy dead people that come up from the grave in that video are so scary, that would be a great goul Halloween costume . The dead walk tonight!

Decorating your yard for Halloween is a great way to show your Halloween spirit and perhaps your morbid side too. The possibilities are endless with all the creepy and gruesome Halloween props that are available , like fog machines and creepy lighting. I have seen some really impressive yard displays and the effort that goes into them is pretty cool. Making your yard look like a cemetery with props of tombstones and crosses gives it that distinctive haunted graveyard feel. It really doesn’t take much to get this effect and seeing the neighborhood kids get scared is a reward in itself and what Halloween is all about .

Creepy Haunted Dolls and Toys

Its so freaky when a doll or toy moves on its own ,even when there is no batteries! Raggedy Ann and Andy can take on an evil life of their own and don’t seem quite so harmless anymore. There has been many stories of haunted toys and especially dolls ,even devoting a whole website to the subject. Voodoo dolls, devil dolls, pretty porcelain china dolls … all can trick you and you will find them sitting somewhere other than where you had originally put them, or in a different position. SUPER CREEPY . there’s always a chucky doll costume to try for Halloween to freak everyone out. Or take something sweet like Raggedy Andy costume and turn it into something creepy for a party.
