Wikipedia defines a demon as : a supernatural being, malevolent in nature. Some people might think of demons as ghosts, but they are far worse. Ghosts are believed to be harmless, sometimes confused, spirits who are bound to earth by unfinished business. Demons however; are here to cause upset and interfere in the lives of humans and even cause harm. Demons also have another less tangible definition. Demons can also be seen as inner struggles within ourselves. Struggles over our conscience, struggles over addiction and substance abuse, the inner battle between knowing and doing what is right or wrong. Literally or figuratively one can be possessed by a demon. Though much rarer, a literal possession has been known to destroy a human life. The demon inhabits the human carrier and causes havoc in that persons life. In order to rid the demon of the human world, sometimes the carrier must be destroyed in order to use its eternal soul to carry the demon out of this world and back in to its own. I’ve often wondered if the 1973 film “The Exorcist” depicts demonic possession correctly. I have a feeling that Linda Blair was forever changed having to wear a demon mask like that and play such a dark role. I hope to never have first hand experience when it comes to demons and exorcisms!

Did you know that the 1978 version of Halloween has been inducted in to the National Film Registry for preservation for  being a movie that is “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.” This movie is one of the original slasher films that inspired many other serial killer slasher movies.  Michael Myers is a disturbed young man who at the age of 6 stabs his older sister Judith Myers to death. Michael is then sent away to an insane asylum to live out the rest of his days. Until 15 years later on October 30th, Michael escapes the institution, steals a car, and returns to him home town where he begins a murder spree.  After a showdown between Michael and his former doctor, which leads you to believe he is dead after being shot and falling out of a second story window, the next scene shows the doctor looking out the window where he expects to find Michael’s lifeless corpse. But he does not, Michael has vanished leaving room for many, many sequels. This movie deserves the followers it has acquired over the years. It was a low budget film that made millions of dollars. Because of it’s huge following, people still wear Michael Myers Costumes as their Halloween Costumes, even before the 2007 remake! A great Halloween film with a creepy character that has been admired on Halloween for 3 decades.

I’ve noticed a lot of accessories and costumes with fun game themes this year. Board games have always been a part of growing up and are ridiculously nostalgic. Some of my personal favorite board games are the classics like Monopoly and Snakes and Ladders.

I think board games are important for kids to have a sense of fun but also understanding the idea of rules and sportsmanship. All in all they’re fun and something that a whole family or group of friends can enjoy. Board games and games in general offer a good solution to the regular hum drum of just sitting down and watching television.
Some non-board game games that i also personally enjoy are Twister, Battleship, Clue and of course video games like Super Mario Brothers and Pac Man.
I am thinking of what i may be for Halloween this year, I am contemplating a couple of gaming costumes. I am thinking of Pac Man and the little ghouley ghosts, i may make some hand made power pills to add some flair. I also am really torn between Twister and Operation! The choices are almost endless!
