Tarry town is the location of the famous story of The Headless Horseman the ultimate Halloween spooky story. The setting is beautiful but potentially scary countryside , nestled on the Hudson River , it would be a pretty village to visit , steeped in history. Halloween brings spooky recreations of the path Ichabod followed on that fateful night, apparently not for the kiddies. It seems like the ultimate place to go back in time for fall and the ultimate quaint town to visit for Halloween.  The movie of the same name does a good job at recreating that old world creepiness. You can have your own sleepy hollow themed party with  headless costume . Or be Ichabod himself with a colonial-era costume with a fluffy shirt.
